About Impact Plants

Our passion at Impact Plants is enriching the pallet of local landscape designers and keen gardeners with a wider range of extraordinary plants than is available in the average retail nursery or chain store. We achieve this through our 30 years of experience of evaluating spectacular subtropical plants for their suitability to local conditions.

Park-like setting

Impact Plants nursery and café’s surroundings are more like a small botanic garden than a regular retail environment. Customers can see and experience first hand how many of these plants look at maturity and under what conditions they need to not only survive but thrive. All areas of the nursery and café are accessible by wheelchair and strollers.

Serving the Central Coast since 1982

The nursery at Impact Plants was started by us the current owners, Paul and Elizabeth Anderson in 1982 at the rear of our parent’s home in Empire Bay. We started selling tropical plants at various markets and supplying rare palms and cycads to local and international collectors. We also hired out advanced tropical indoor plants to businesses throughout the Central Coast.

Specialising in Native & Tropical Plants

We established ‘Impact Plants’ at our present site in 1984. The business developed from an early fascination in tropical plants, especially palms, ferns, cycads and bromeliads. Over the last twenty five years Paul has held a number of official positions in the International Palm Society, the NSW branch of the Palm and Cycad societies of Australia and the Tropical Garden Society of Sydney. Towards the end of 2006 we opened our popular alfresco café which is run by Elizabeth.
